What is Tissue Culture?

to grow cells in petri dishes, test tubes or flasks. The technique is widely used for multiplying valuable plants, testing various chemicals for toxicity for genetic engineering studies and other experimental investigation. Tissue culture has its greatest utility in rapidly propagating rare species or new cultivars.
The easiest way to do tissue culture is by starting with seeds, which can be sterilized while keeping the seed alive. It is much trickier to get living plants into tissue culture.
